Meet Tidi

Hi, I’m Tidimalo Shabalala, a communications specialist with over 16 years of experience and the founder of Tidi Consulting Limited, a Hong Kong–based consultancy established in 2021. My passion lies in supporting small business owners and influencers by strengthening their brands through creative strategies, practical tactics, and effective communication.

My career began in South Africa, where I worked as a communications manager for global agency affiliates including Magna Carta (TBWA network), Ogilvy South Africa, and FleishmanHillard South Africa. In 2018, I relocated to Hong Kong, where I have spent the past 7 years building my career and deepening my expertise within the market, now proudly holding Hong Kong citizenship. This dual perspective allows me to bring both African and global communications insight to the work I do with entrepreneurs and small brands.

Through Tidi Consulting, I provide consulting, workshops, and brand strategy support designed to help small businesses grow in cost-effective and impactful ways. I am also a co-author of My Voice Vol. 5, published by Global Publishing House in Singapore. In 2024, Tidi Consulting was recognized at the Global Women of Influence Awardsfor its work empowering entrepreneurs and supporting brand growth across communities in Hong Kong and South Africa.

Finding your voice can mean speaking out loud! I’m proud to have contributed to the chapter “Belonging” in My Voice Vol. 5, where I share some of my funniest and defining moments as a mum and wife who moved abroad with my 10-month-old and 6-year-old South African children.

 

The chapter reflects the connections, people, and experiences that shaped my journey. Along with 20 other women from around the world, we shared stories of overcoming obstacles and creating positive outcomes, celebrating resilience, courage, and the power of community.

Tidi Consulting is proud to have been recognized at the Global Women of Influence Awards 2024, organized by Global Publishing House in Singapore. The award honors women globally who are forging new paths, driving meaningful impact in their communities, and applying innovative “New World” thinking on an international scale.

 

This recognition reflects Tidimalo Shabalala’s dedication to empowering entrepreneurs and building impactful brands through strategic communication.

 

It marks an important milestone in her journey and reinforces Tidi Consulting’s commitment to supporting small businesses and communities across Hong Kong and South Africa.

Tidi Consulting was invited to the University of Johannesburg as a guest lecturer for the year 1 Public Relations class.
The lecture was an eye-opening experience and a sharing session for the students. The key topic discussed was Global Communication and how to create a PR plan that is informed, structured, and showcases global understanding for clients.

In December 2022, Tidi Consulting hosted its first-ever Online Brand Enhancement Workshop, designed to inspire fresh ideas that small business owners could use to kickstart their 2023 marketing plans.

The concept brought together global communications experts from Hong Kong and South Africa to deliver a collaborative and insight-driven workshop. The goal was to create a space where small business owners and industry professionals could connect, share knowledge, and explore practical strategies for brand growth.

The workshop proved to be a great success, with over 22 small business owners from Hong Kong and South Africa participating in the Zoom session.

Tidi Consulting continues to expand opportunities that support local SMEs and entrepreneurs in pivoting and strengthening their brands. Through both local and global workshops, the company empowers businesses to refine and tailor their marketing and communication strategies. Ongoing collaborations with industry consultants have further deepened Tidi Consulting’s understanding of the SME landscape, enabling more impactful and relevant support.

Tidi Consulting had the honor of being one of the keynote speakers at the ‘My Voice’ Forum, which was hosted by a Singapore publishing house and featured speakers and guests from around the world. The forum emphasized the importance of telling your story to small business owners.
The session was a great platform to connect with like-minded ladies worldwide and emphasize that everyone has a valid story and should find the courage to share.

Tidi, the founder of Tidi Consulting, was invited to Moderate the 2023 Trade and Investment Seminar hosted by @brandsouthafrica and the South African Consulate.
The seminar was part of South Africa’s heritage celebrations and promoted relations between Hong Kong SAR and South African business investment sectors.

Tidi Consulting partnered with a local Hong Kong Digital Company, Wresonate Media, to host a Digital Growth workshop on 21 June 2023.
The aim was to conduct an in-person coaching session to advise and inform Hong Kong-based small businesses on how to take small steps toward enhancing their branding strategy.
The session was a great success, with over 20 small business owners in attendance. Tidi Consulting and Wresonate Media Founder also created a working booklet.
The booklet aimed to provide the attendees with valuable insights and exercises that they could use to improve their digital growth.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO ADESIFLAVA ARTICLES

Tidi Consulting has partnered with Adesiflava Hong Kong since 2024, contributing articles to the magazine distributed across hotels, restaurants, community events, and selected venues throughout Hong Kong. The collaboration focuses on publishing creative and diverse content that supports social innovation and community engagement.

 

Through this partnership, Tidi Consulting produces insightful articles on Hong Kong culture, SME communication strategies, and global trends. Adesiflava, a publication with over 11 years in the industry, reaches more than 11,000 subscribers and is distributed across 60+ outlets, primarily serving Hong Kong’s diverse and South Asian communities.
